Ever wondered if you could outsmart fate? If you could see a disaster coming and change your own ending? A new film in a long-running horror franchise explores this exact idea, and as you can probably guess, it doesn't end well for anyone. The story starts with a premonition, a life-saving warning, and a group of people who are about to learn a very hard lesson: when you meddle with a grand design, the universe has a way of balancing the scales.
The movie whisks us back to the 1960s, where a couple, Iris and Paul, are celebrating at a swanky new high-rise. Suddenly, Iris has a terrifying vision of the building collapsing. Acting fast, she manages to get a group of people out just moments before the tragedy strikes, saving lives and feeling like a hero. But as we all know from the previous films, when you cheat death, it doesn't just forget about you. It's got a list, and it will check it twice.
Decades pass, and the film jumps to the present day. Iris's granddaughter, Steph, is having similar premonitions. The old terror has come back, but this time, it's for the next generation. Steph learns from her grandmother that Death is now coming for their family, as the list of those who were supposed to die decades ago is still being worked through. When Iris meets her own gruesome fate, Steph realizes her nightmares aren't just dreamsâthey're warnings. She discovers a mysterious book filled with her family's pre-destined deaths. What secrets does this book hold, and can they possibly use it to stop the unstoppable force coming for them all?
